The Tigers Under 8s travelled to the foot of the Caldera today and took on the mighty Vulcans. Luckily Coach Matt was on hand as I forgot the team jumpers and had to travel back to Tigerland to collect them. Thanks to Matt and anyone else who helped out in the warm up and first quarter.
It was impressive to see all players putting their great skills into action for the first time this season. It was an awesome team effort all round.
Ollie was brilliant down forward kicking a bag of goals fed by the stellar service from Sonny, Jack and Patrick in the midfield.
Will and Riley were tenacious in every zone they played keeping their feet and getting the hard ball. Ned and Max teamed up well with quality handballs as did Kobe when he popped one over the top to Hamish who booted a great goal and celebrated accordingly.
My personal highlight was singing the song for the first time as U8s coach. I’ve sung it many times as a player but this was a great moment that I’ll treasure forever. Anyone who has a video of this please see me at training I’d love a copy.
Next week we take on the Ballina Bombers at Round Mountain aka “The Jungle”. Check the draw in the fixtures section of the app.
Practice your kicks and handballs and I’ll see you at training.

Yellow and black!

Josh

Great game to start the season and a big confidence booster for our new players.
Tweed U10 Black dominated the Vulcans throughout the entire game leaving the back zone without action for most of the game.
Everyone played way above my expectations today and the whole team was on fire. Unofficial score (from the boys – 94 to 12) 😜
Player of the week is Van for displaying his mastery of fundamental skills through out the game. Keep up the good work.

The boys took delight in soaking the player of the week. A little tradition the team has built over the years.

Mums and dads best pack an extra set of clothes as it may be your boy next week.

Special thanks to our boys who helped the Vulcans out by playing on their team to even the numbers. This really helps us all to have more play time.

Cheers to Sunday coaches Ben, Julian and Paul for your much appreciated assistance.

See you at training

Today our girls took on last years premiers the Murwillumbah Vulcans at their home ground. It was a perfect day for football. The girls look fantastic in their pink and black uniforms and definitely won fashion on the feild. The girls were down a few key players but fought hard all game and we were very proud of their effort and enthusiasm. Unfortunately we were out gunned today. Player of the day went to Keshia Landers aka “Special K” for her tireless effort. Better players – Makayla Sekac, Chelsea Follett and Keshia Landers. Our point scorers were Makayla Sekac and Chelsea Follett. Thanks to all the girls and their families for a fantastic day.

Yah footy’s back and what a great way to start the year, we took on one of the best teams in the competition being Byron Bay who have some great players but our boys were up to the task beating them in a very hard fought game.
We had four new players to our club with two of them never playing AFL before so I’m super proud of the rest of the team helping them out especially Taylor, Ty, Ben, Joseph and Billy great use of their voice keeping players in position.
All our team played so well with some amazing skills especially Ty’s check side goal.
Best on ground was one of our new players Angus, and the coach’s award went to another new player Brendon
I was really happy to see everyone having fun, and as always I had a lot of fun coaching them, what a great bunch of kids

Big thanks to all the parents for getting your children there on time it really helps to have that time with them before the game.

We are in for a great season.
