Tweed Coast Tigers
Best game of the year so far for the tigresses. After starting the year struggling to even score, we posted our highest score of 7 goals 3 points against the best team. All girls contributed well to the team effort today. A big congratulations should go out to Mia who scored her first goal!! Well done.
See you at training on Wednesday night to prepare for Byron next week.
The U12s were comfortable winners today after leading all day and late goals for Ballina made the scoreboard look respectable. It was great to see Darcy back from injury together with Isaac Douglas who returned to AFL after a 2 year sabbatical. Tweed 5-5-35 defeated Ballina 3-0-18. Goals; Charlie 3, Tom W 1, Ben 1 Best Players; Ben, Raff, Hugo, Cameron, Angus, Charlie
Note that senior players Charlie, Hugo and Noah S will be running the drills at training on Wednesday in my absence. Richard Bernet will oversee the training and report back to me on how individuals have performed.
We have a massive game next week at Byron with the winner taking outright top spot on the ladder.
What a great day for footy, we Tigers stamped our mark on the dewy turf of the Vulcans ground marking the territory as our own.
And own it we did, as our best attacking team effort this year resulted in a goal kicking fest for the boys. A spirit of sharing and encouragement for each other today was brilliant and every single player put in the effort to bring about a really great game. Special thanks to Robby for playing the entire match for the Vulcans.
Well done team black, the smiles on your faces after today’s game make the coaching job such a pleasure.
See you at training.
Our next 3 games in a row are at home at Tigerland.
Today our U15 Tiger girls took on Brunswick at their home ground. We scrambled for numbers to avoid the forfeit due to injury and holidays. Thanks to Millie Morris for playing up much appreciated. We also registered a new recruit who impressed us from the get go with some fierce tackling, big welcome to Yolanda Mumbulla. The first quarter saw the girls missing some of our key players and they all realized they would have to step it up and I’m pleased to say they did just that. Although we didn’t get the win today we were proud of all the girls efforts.
Better players Inka Shillings, Makayla Sekac, Tobi Chapman and great first game to Yolanda Mumbulla. Goal scores today Makayla Sekac 4, Mia Illes 2 and Chelsea Follett 2.
But most importantly Happy Birthday to Mairse.
Will get them next time girls!!
The early start did not deter the mighty Under 8s as they tasted success in Ballina.
At times our boys seemed to get the rough end of the pineapple on a few calls but to their credit they rose to the occasion with some excellent skills.
In a town known for its massive shellfish; it was unselfish play that proved to be the key for our boys success.
Riley Y proved he is strong contender today, running into space and kicking long to his team mates.
Will demolished the opposition through the midfield by keeping his feet, picking up the ball and hitting targets across the ground. Well done to both boys on securing the awards today and congratulations to all players for their effort in a great game.
Remember parents and carers, please send me a pic and the info requested in last weeks match report so I can print up a footy card for each player before the end of the season.
Stay strong and bold,
Hey all under 10 black team Mums, Dads and Players.
We have an 8:30 kick off at Murbah tomorrow, a little earlier than we are used to.
Please arrive at 8:00-8:15. Should be a fun day for the boys tomorrow – I feel a real goal kicking fest! We have honed our skills at training this week!
See you tomorrow
